When the birds are chirping and the squirrels are squirreling, or simply when the hunger pangs grow unbearable, Smores goes hunting, in collaboration with Julio.
How does the collaboration work? Smores does the hunting, and Julio does the eating. Whatever Smores brings back home, Julio sniffs it out and snatches it away from Smores who lets Julio do whatever he wants because he's his little (spoiled) brother.
Squirrels and birds get eaten, but not mice. Carcasses and parts of carcasses (half birds, squirrel tails, mice) are deposited by the doorsteps as a bribe to me for more food.

The Clan (Julio and his siblings)
(from left to right) Stubbly, Marbles, Julio (aka the Lion), Smores.

below: Julio's girlfriend from Chile, Catalina Avril-Princess.

Julio in the snow, Jan 2009

Julio's favorite hangout: the doorsteps by the back door, first in line for food, he can wait there all day and night, after all the other cats have left, in case there's more food coming out the door.

Thanksgiving Full House
All cats (and petercats) are here today, including Panther and Peter who both made an appearance for 2 seconds before I chased them away.
There's no way to get rid of Peter, is there? He's still staying in the neighborhood trash cans, his natural habitat, dives in them when the lids are open, and sits on the lids when they're down.
Smores ate so much turkey he's ready to fall in a coma.
The lion (Julio) had to be tricked with milk to stick to his diet (which Ben managed to ruin with huge pieces of meat yesterday).
Ben, stop feeding my cats!

Julio just got his first collar
After much pleading and prodding (which was met with hissing and growling), Julio got his reflective, breakaway, flea collar on.
"reflective" won't reflect much because his fur covers the collar completely
"breakaway" isn't really break-away-able because of poor design (bad usability)
I'm hoping the "fleas" part will work.
For future purchases, stay way from "Hartz Ultra Guard Reflecting Flea & Tick Collar for Cats & Kittens" (Julio's collar).
Smores' collar (Zodiac Flea & Tick Breakaway Collar for Cats)also from petco is much better designed
